Visual Memories and Books of Remembrance

Visual Memories

In the Sanctuary of Remembrance you can now use modern technology to create a personal and private memorial for your loved ones. These digital memories can incorporate photographs, coloured backgrounds, poems and other texts and can only be accessed by a key card(s) purchased with the entry. We can help you to create these exciting modern memorials, and new pages can be added at any time.

You can also use this technology to view your entry in the Book of Remembrance, Anniversary Volume or Memorial Scroll on any day, if necessary at more than twice the original size, by use of a touch screen.

Books of Remembrance

Memorial Books and Scroll
These are on display in the Book Room and the Scroll Room and we recommend that you look at these beautiful records before any choice is made. The entries form a permanent memorial and a single payment will ensure a lasting record. The entry can be a simple, two-line dedication or longer if desired. The entries are carefully inscribed by highly skilled artists. They can include significant emblems such as regimental badges or flowers and are lettered in mediaeval styles using ancient techniques.

 Book of Remembrance

Entries are made on the date of death and each entry is on view for one day each year. Some of the dates in this book are already full, and so entries can only be accepted subject to availability. Where the page cannot hold any further entries, we offer space in the Anniversary Volume or Scroll of Remembrance.

Anniversary Volume
Entries can be made to coincide with various special dates such as the date of death or the date of another family member’s entry or happier anniversaries such as birthdays or weddings. These entries are also on view for one day each year.

Scroll of Remembrance
Entries are similar to those above, but the length of time they are on display each year is increased to three months (entry month followed by the next two months). As in the Anniversary Volume, the month of entry may be chosen to coincide with various anniversaries.

Copies of Entries in the Memorial Books and Scroll

Families and friends may, if they wish, buy a copy of the entry they have made in our books or scroll for their personal use. This may be a booklet or book and can, for example, be sent to people who live too far away to visit the Crematorium.
